SuReal - Stakeholders Materiality Survey

Dear Stakeholders,


We sincerely appreciate your participation in this survey. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we are conducting a materiality assessment to understand the importance of various ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) topics. This survey should take approximately 10-15 min of your time.


SuReal was created with one sole aim: having a positive impact on the society and the environment. As sustainability experts, we want to implement truly realistic and future-proof actions. Your input will guide our priorities and decision-making processes. The survey results will be used to create a Materiality Matrix, a key component of our upcoming ESG report. This matrix will shape our efforts in addressing critical issues.


Even though SuReal does not need to comply, this survey follows the CSRD legislation, so will our final ESG report 2024. We feel this is important because we always want to be a frontrunner.

Choose an ESG A-rated office building (or equivalent)

SuReal's current headquarters exemplifies a strong commitment to ESG principles and circular design. The office prioritizes exceptional air quality through advanced ventilation (utilizing F7 filters with a flow rate of 40 m3/h/person) and minimal VOCs indoors (paints and carpet glues are low VOC). It also achieves low energy and water consumption, features innovative biophilic and strongly promotes circularity, with examples such as second-hand kitchen equipment, glasses made from reused bottles, second-hand office supplies, locally sourced wood, demountable walls and recycled material carpets. The building is aiming to be certified at the level of Excellent for the BREEAM In-Use certification. SuReal's choice of office space is guided by climate risk assessments and resilience factors. As SuReal plans to open new offices, how important is it to you that it continues investing significantly in offices with the best ESG performance?

Monitor energy, water and waste consumption and take actions to reduce the yearly consumption

Tracking and measuring energy, water and waste consumption, usage, and related data would help to gain a better understanding of how it is being used, identify opportunities for efficient solutions and conservation, and make informed decisions to reduce consumption. The building in which SuReal has its offices have an overall BMS system that monitors the energy and water consumption of the entire building. Waste is monitored individually and electricity is monitored individually for the office as well. For future offices of SuReal how important is it to have (intelligent) monitoring for their office space?

Perform carbon accounting and create a decarbonisation plan

SuReal is currently performing a carbon accounting assessment and creating a decarbonisation plan for the next years. To what extent do you think it is important that SuReal does so? Carbon accounting involves quantifying and tracking the Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) associated with the company. Once the emissions have been quantified, action plan are developed to reduce these emissions.

Offset CO2 emissions

SuReal has low carbon emissions as it does not provide company cars, chooses ESG-focused offices, encourages employees to commute and visit clients responsibly, etc. SuReal's decarbonisation plan will also set initiatives to keep on limiting it's own emissions. However, some CO2 emissions cannot be avoided, do you believe that SuReal should offset these CO2 emissions? This could include paying for CO2 compensation for business travel and commuting, investing in carbon storage initiatives, etc.

SuReal organizes knowledge-sharing sessions every Monday on sustainability topics and internal projects to help its employees keep up with the changes in the sector and with the fast-changing regulations provided by the European Union. These trainings also help to understand the opportunities and risks linked to various ESG topics and will help to efficiently implement the new ESG strategy of the company. Promote diversity, inclusion and non-discrimination in the workplace

Promoting diversity of gender, age, race, ethnicity, language, seniority and skills, and ensuring zero discrimination is at the heart of SuReal's values. Indeed, 60% of employees are women and 40% are men, with a perfectly gender-equal management team of 50% women and 50% men. Additionally, 6 nationalities and 6 languages are represented within our 25 employees. SuReal places a strong emphasis on fostering a completely non-discriminatory environment, where every employee is treated with respect and has equal opportunities. The office is accessible for people with disabilities and a breastfeeding room is available. This commitment is reflected in SuReal's practices, including equal pay and compensation and equal promotion opportunities. Also, internal workshops are given on non-discrimination topics in the workplace and with the clients. From the start of SuReal, every year min. 1.5% of EBIT has been allocated to a good cause, mainly in the health sector. The management of SuReal spend min. 2.5% of their time yearly for good causes. Additionally, SuReal tries to attribute at least one team event to a good cause each year (e.g., "Canal It Up") How important is it to you that SuReal budgets a specific amount of money, volunteer time or knowledge sharing to support good causes, non-profit organizations, events, or projects that align with the company's values and corporate social responsibility goals ?

SuReal puts a strong emphasis on the well-being of its employees, encouraging them to engage in physical activity. Simultaneously, SuReal puts a strong emphasis on the mental health of its employees, actively encouraging the use of the Alan app, which provides mental health support and resources. The company has created a well-being-focused office environment, with an abundance of plants, communal eating areas, a nap room, and a building design that prioritizes employees' mental well-being. The company frequently organizes after-work events and activities to foster camaraderie among colleagues. SuReal highly values the importance of a good work-life balance for enhanced workplace efficiency. As part of its commitment to employees' well-being, the company fully supports their personal projects, travel plans, and extracurricular activities. SuReal doesn't want to do only the bare minimum but, rather, it aims to ensure that the clients it serves have a genuine impact on the planet and society as a whole. SuReal's purpose is to have as much impact as possible. Therefore, the yearly evaluations of the team also has an 'impact KPI' included. This impact is measured on project level but also wider (knowledge sharing, research projects, mindset switch of clients,…) SuReal uses this impact KPI to measure their impact generated and incentivise team members to generate as much impact as possible.
